
Born in India and raised in Southern California, Dr. Asmita Mishrekar has deep roots in the communities she serves. During her time at the University of California, Riverside, she discovered a passion for mental health while working alongside underserved populations, an experience that inspired her to pursue psychiatry and develop community and global mental health initiatives throughout her medical training.
Dr. Mishrekar is currently in her final year of psychiatry residency training at Kaiser Permanente Southern California. She strives to provide thoughtful, patient-centered care that combines evidence-based treatment with a genuine understanding of each person's unique story, strengths, and challenges.
Her clinical interests include women's mental health, ADHD and other neurodevelopmental conditions, and global mental health equity. She enjoys helping patients better understand themselves, navigate major life transitions, and build sustainable strategies for emotional well-being. Her approach emphasizes collaboration, curiosity, and creating a safe space where patients feel heard and empowered in their treatment journey.
Dr. Mishrekar is passionate about mentorship, education, and expanding access to high-quality mental health care in underserved communities both locally and around the world.
